Where Community Finds Its Strength

A Better Way OutReach exists to support veterans facing homelessness, addiction, mental health challenges, and major life transitions by removing practical barriers to treatment, stability, and independence.
We provide immediate support such as temporary pet care, transportation assistance, housing access, and resource navigation so veterans can enter treatment and rebuild their lives.
As resources allow, we also extend support to other vulnerable community members facing hardship, connecting them to stability services, skills training, and pathways toward long-term independence.
A Better Way OutReach was founded by Rod Manning, a veteran with a genuine heart for people who are fighting through overwhelming challenges.
Rod grew up in a single-mother household where money was tight and life often felt like an uphill climb. Those early experiences taught him what it feels like to struggle, to start with limited resources, and to need support that is simply out of reach. That perspective shaped his commitment to helping others who are dealing with the same kinds of hardships today.
After serving in the military, Rod became aware of how difficult the transition back to civilian life can be for many veterans. He saw veterans facing unstable housing, job uncertainty, mental and physical health challenges, and the pressure of trying to rebuild life without enough support. He also saw how often veterans are left to navigate these challenges alone.
A Better Way OutReach was created to change that. The mission is to remove real-world barriers that prevent veterans from accessing treatment, stability, and independence.
This includes support such as temporary housing connections, transportation assistance, resource navigation, and temporary pet care for veterans who cannot enter treatment or shelter programs because they have no safe place for their animals.
While veterans are the primary focus, Rod has never forgotten others who feel overlooked or vulnerable. As resources allow, A Better Way OutReach extends support to individuals facing hardship, giving them access to stability services and a chance to move forward.
For Rod, this work is personal. He knows what struggle looks like, he knows how powerful support can be, and he believes no one should have to face life’s hardest battles alone. A Better Way OutReach is the realization of that belief. It is a place where veterans can find support, regain stability, and move toward a future filled with possibility.
Rod Manning started A Better Way OutReach after years of watching people get taken advantage of in the service industry.
As a mechanic, he saw how often minorities, veterans, and single mothers were overcharged or misled, and he made it his mission to change that.
Through A Better Way OutReach, Rod helps participants gain mechanical knowledge that saves money and builds confidence. Beyond that, the program connects people with job and housing resources, offers workshops, and supports them in finding direction and purpose.
Participants also gain exposure to car restoration projects, which can lead to valuable job placement opportunities.
Guided by faith, family, and community, Rod is committed to serving those who feel they cannot help themselves. For him, A Better Way OutReach truly is a better way out.
